I haven't died yet in my pursuit of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , turns out 240 ft-lbs at just off idle makes not spinning above 2500 rpms pretty easy to do. Driving 5 under on the freeway has been excruciating though. I hate it. a lot. At any rate, I am near half empty and sitting right now at 170 indicated miles (158 actual miles) which means that...at this point anyway...there is no change in indicated mileage. So, in honor of this, um, achievement post your favorite thirsty cars!
This is a picture of my fathers 1997 K2500 suburban we had for a while. bigger tires, stupid wheels, auxiliary lights and a useless grill guard (all come on it when we bought it) but the fun thing that we put on it...
A Protec centrifugal supercharger with air to air intercooler (also Tubular headers and dual exhaust). The stock Vortec 454 was good for 290 hp and 410 ft-lbs. With 7 PSI of boost we were looking at just over 430 hp, which isn't a lot really from 7.4 liters forced induced displacement, but something on the order of 615 ft-lbs...which is a lot. it had the highway rear axle so it wasn't a rocket off the line, but it would still get 14 highway...or city...or whatever. The person that helped us with ours had the same year suburban with a crate 502 and a larger version of the same compressor running 9 psi. THAT thing was fast.

I think I averaged 11-12 the entire time I owned this thing. Dat Hemi made it hard to conserve.

It had a 3.92 rear end, which was nice for towing. Not so nice for consumption.

Not my old truck, but the same body style (and a lot less rust).
1975 F100 4X4 + 390 FE engine + 4 speed manual trans with unsynchronized "granny" 1st gear + 33" tall tires = single digit MPGs*.
I loved that truck! It was unstoppable when it had mud tires!
*The speedometer didn't work so figuring out the MPG number was less than scientific.
